Sending Files
Distance education assignments are submitted in electronic format. That means you must attach them to emails.
The method of attaching documents varies from email program to email program, however most of them are capable of sending files as attachments.
Since you all have access to GWU's Colonial Mail, we will explain the process using the Colonial Mail web site.
To send an attachment with a message:
- Open a new message by clicking the "Compose" Icon.

- From the "Compose Message" window, Click the Attach icon.

- Click the Browse button to find the file you want to attach from your computer.
- Select the file you want to attach by clicking on it once.
- Click the Open button to confirm you want to select the highlighted file.
- Click the Add button to attach the file to your email. You can attach multiple files to your message. However, the total size of your message including attachments should not exceed 10 MB.
- You may also click Remove to delete a file you accidentally selected for attachment.
- Click the Attach button in the Attach file dialog box.
- The Attach file dialog box closes, and the name of the file you attached appears in the Attachment field in the Compose Window.
Now, when you send your email, it will carry a copy of the file, or files, you chose.
