Teaching is about so much more than lecturing and giving tests. A good teacher must still impart knowledge through lecture and testing but it is also about coaching, being a mentor and guiding students in a journey to awareness and understanding in their chosen field of study. Students need to be engaged as full partners in their learning. I began my academic career at GWU in 1993, bringing a passion and enthusiasm to the sonography program which was, at that time, a new and exciting discipline. In the end, it all comes down to the patient. I try to use my more than twenty-five years of clinical experience to ensure that students leave prepared to work with patients in a manner that upholds the highest standards and traditions in quality healthcare.
