MSHS: Regulatory Affairs
As the Chair of the Department of Clinical Research and Leadership and now the Program Director for our newly launched Regulatory Affairs graduate programs I am excited about what these new programs mean for the global regulatory affairs community.
The George Washington University (GW) has been a leader in providing academic programs for the clinical research profession throughout this decade. It was only natural for us to build upon the excellence of our faculty, our industry connections, and our proximity to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to offer the newest academic program designed for regulatory affairs professionals and leaders. The GW Regulatory Affairs graduate programs include a Master’s degree and a Graduate certificate program designed specifically for the regulatory affairs profession.
As we set about to design these programs our first step was to inventory the current options available to prospective applicants. We made two observations: 1) most programs were designed around a particular niche in the regulatory affairs market, and 2) most programs were not available online.
Working with industry professionals and colleagues at the U.S Food and Drug Administration we have developed graduate regulatory affairs programs that we believe go beyond a single niche, and focus strategically on the direction that regulatory affairs and drug development science is moving in the 21st century. Our philosophy is that if our goal is to ultimately prepare leaders in regulatory affairs, they must be prepared to deal with emerging trends and changes in health care.
The GW program is designed for two distinctly different, yet compatible audiences. The program is designed to provide the scientist-researcher who has recently joined regulatory affairs with an education in which scientific preparation and regulatory affairs practice can be integrated for rapid professional growth. The second audience will consist of regulatory affairs professionals who are advancing in their careers and require further academic preparation. In both cases, the applicant pool will consist of professionals joining industry, the public science and research sector, or regulatory agencies and seasoned professionals already working in the field.
As a leader in providing distance education programs for health care professionals in a number of disciplines, we will capitalize on this core competency and deliver the regulatory affairs programs through our state of the art distance education systems. This will make attainment of a graduate degree or certificate much more accessible in a profession that is changing the way that health care is delivered globally.
Please review this website and contact us with any questions about the programs. We are here to help you bring your ambition and leadership to the profession of regulatory affairs.
