Post Masters Certificate: Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner
On behalf of the Department of Nursing Education faculty, I want to extend our sincere welcome. Your selection of the Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner program will enable you to build on your education and experience by allowing you to expand your scope of practice.
The Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner program prepares the nurse practitioner to provide high quality palliative care for individuals facing serious, life threatening illness and their families/significant others, as well as leadership for increasing access and evidence base for palliative care. Palliative care is a paradigm for comprehensive and compassionate care for individuals suffering with serious chronic and life threatening illnesses and their families. Palliative care nurse practitioners work within an interdisciplinary team to provide high quality pain and symptom management, support emotional and spiritual needs, and promote the highest quality of life.
The need for palliative care is growing rapidly. As a nurse practitioner with national certification in palliative care, you will provide cutting edge leadership in many areas, including expert clinical care, consultation and advocacy for patients and their families, research, education, and program development.
