Joyce Maring , PT, EdD

Assistant Professor

Education

Dr. Maring received her Baccalaureate degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Michigan in 1978. She went on to receive her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Boston University in 1985. She received her Doctorate in Education at Florida International University in the department of Curriculum and Instruction. Her doctoral research investigated factors predicting rates of developmental gain in children attending Early Intervention programs.

Research and Professional Interests

Dr. Maring has more than 26 years of experience in a variety of clinical settings including most recently early intervention, neurorehabilitation, and pediatric practice sites. She serves as a Commissioner to the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education and is an active member of the APTA and the Education, Pediatric and Neurology sections. Her research interests include: early intervention, motor control and movement disorders, and educational outcomes.
