Phyllis J. Panico , PhD

Assistant Professor

About 10 years ago, Phyllis Panico retired from a long and satisfying career with what is now AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals (formerly Zeneca Pharmaceuticals). Before she retired, her team was challenged to build a professional development group, a new service within the clinical research division whose focus was the training and development of the approximately five hundred clinical research professionals in the United States. Prior to that assignment Phyllis managed various clinical research programs, in oncology and diabetes and hypertension, including the company's earliest international programs. Throughout her professional experience the challenge to the clinical team consistently has been the effective interpretation of the many guidelines that govern the process, the application of sound science and ethical principles, and a healthy respect for the subject and the process – all, of course, while maintaining productivity, credibility, and balance.
