Clinical Health Sciences Bachelors Program

Program Requirements

The BSHS with a major in Clinical Health Sciences requires successful completion of 120 credit hours, divided into the three degree components: advanced standing, general education requirements, and GW coursework.

Advanced Standing (60 Semester Hours)

During the first semester the student is enrolled in the program, advanced standing for successful completion of Navy IDC training will be noted on the student’s record and applied towards the bachelor’s degree.

General Education Requirements (30 Semester Hours) 

The general education coursework listed below may be completed by taking coursework at community colleges or other accredited institutions of higher education, through the PACE program, or by taking CLEP or DANTES examinations. Coursework meeting these requirements that has been taken at accredited institutions prior to admission to the GW bachelor’s program will be accepted as transfer credit towards the degree.

Mathematics, Science, or Statistics

(8 hours)

Note: IDCs interested in applying for admission to graduate or professional programs will likely need additional courses to meet admissions requirements. These students should consult the program-specific admissions requirements of the programs to which they plan to apply.

GW Course Work (30 Semester hours)

All GW courses are offered through distance learning.

Courses in the major: (15 Semester hours)

Nine credits of the courses in the major are related to clinical experiences and parallel the IDC recertification process. These nine credits must be completed while on active duty. The remaining six credit hours in the major include a course in public health principles and an independent study that is to be completed towards the end of the degree program.
