Second Degree BSN Program

Program Requirements

The second degree BSN program is a full-time program that will span four semesters. Students will enter the second degree BSN program in the fall semester with full-time status and will complete the program in 15 months. Due to the intensity of the second-degree BSN program, the Department of Nursing Education highly recommends that students do not hold employment while enrolled in courses.

Graduates of the BSN program are required to complete 60 semester hours.

  • NURS 114: Nursing Practice and Clinical Reasoning II **

  • NURS 117: Nursing Practice and Clinical Reasoning V **
  • NURS 118: Pharmacology: Pathophysiology Approach
  • NURS 119: Patient Safety and Quality
  • NURS 120: Capstone Experience - Transition into Practice **
  • NURS 201: Theoretical Foundations of Nursing *
  • NURS 203: Nursing Leadership *
  • CPM 203: Health Information, Quality and Outcomes *
  • HSCI 270: Research I *
  • * Courses with one asterisk are graduate level, web-based distance learning and may be applied to the Master of Science in Nursing at the George Washington University.

    ** Courses with two asterisks have a clinical practicum, which will result in a total of at least 700 clinical hours throughout the program.
