Does the School of Nursing offer a bachelor’s degree?
Yes, we welcomed our inaugural class of Second Degree
BSN students in the Fall of 2009.
What is the deadline for the program?

What are the prerequisite courses for the program?
The courses are as follows:
Human Anatomy & Physiology (6-8 semester credit hours)
Microbiology (at least 3-4 semester credit hours)
Statistics (3 semester credit hours)
Nutrition (3 semester credit hours)
Ethics (3 semester credit hours)
The prerequisites must be completed at an accredited institution of higher
education. Grades of C or higher are required. It is not necessary to
take laboratory classes along with these courses. If you have prerequisites
outstanding, you can still apply; however, you must complete them before
beginning the program in the fall.
What is the format of the program?
The BSN program is a full-time, consecutive 15 month program. The only
available start term is in the fall.
What is the cost of tuition for the program?
The tuition is $861 per credit hour. The tuition is capped at 12 credit
hours per semester meaning that even if you are enrolled in a higher number
of credits, you will still be charged as though you are only enrolled
for 12 credits. The total cost of the program is about $40,000 but is
subject to increase slightly due the annual change in the cost per credit
hour.
Are scholarships available for the program?
Currently, there are no scholarships offered through the program specifically.
However, many hospitals in the area offer scholarships for nursing; students
are advised to contact local hospitals. Those in need of financial aid
are also encouraged to fill out the FAFSA and to research scholarships
and other programs available.
How many students are in the program?
With our inaugural class, 20 students matriculated into the program.
For the Fall 2010 class, 40 students were to be admitted.
Where are the courses for this program taught?
Lecture and in-house lab courses are taught at the Loudoun, Virginia
campus, Clinical experiences will be held in varied clinical facilities/hospitals
in the area.
Is experience in the field of healthcare required before applying
to the program?
No experience is necessary to be considered for the program. However,
you will include your resume as part of the application so the faculty
will consider your employment history during the admissions process.
Is an interview required for admission to the program?
No, an interview is not part of the admissions process.
Are there information sessions for the program?
Yes, all of our information sessions are listed on the program website.
After I have sent in my application, how long will the process take?
Complete applications will be evaluated after the deadline.
Can I choose an area of specialization for my clinical rotations
during the program?
No, you cannot choose an area of specialization. You will be prepared
as a generalist graduate nurse.
Can I work while I am enrolled in the program?
Since the program is only offered in a full-time format, students are
not advised to work during this time.
