Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Program admits for Fall Semester
Application Deadline is March 31

The admissions requirements for the degree are as follows:

  • A completed application form
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale and 3.0 in the last 30 credits.
  • Official transcripts from all institutions of higher education attended. (If academic records are in a language other than English, a certified English translation must be provided. In addition, an evaluated copy completed by an accredited foreign credential agency must be submitted regardless of whether or not the official record is in English.)
  • Designated prerequisite coursework with grades of C or better and a minimum course average of 3.0, to include the following:
    • 6-8 semester hours Human Anatomy and Physiology
    • 3-4 semester hours Microbiology
    • 3 semester hours Statistics
    • 3 semester hours Nutrition
    • 3 semester hours Ethics
  • Students must have completed the following courses in their previous baccalaureate degree:
    • 6 semester hours English Composition
    • 3 semester hours Math
    • 12 semester hours Humanities/Social Sciences
    • 12 semester hours Natural Sciences (usually fulfilled by anatomy, physiology, and microbiology)
  • Résumé or Curriculum Vitae
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Statement of purpose (maximum 2 type-written double spaced pages)

  • It is recommended that applicants also have coursework in developmental psychology and general chemistry.

    Additional Requirements
    Students who have been previously enrolled in another nursing program (diploma, associate, or baccalaureate) without earning an RN license are required to submit a letter from that school on its letter head stating that the applicant left the program in good standing.

    Applicants whose native language is not English or who are not citizens of countries where English is an official language must submit official test scores for either Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The TOEFL/IELTS requirement may be waived for applicants who hold a degree from an accredited college or university located in a country in which English is the official language and also the language of instruction at the institution.

    Candidates who are accepted for the degree will be required to submit the following at matriculation:

    1. Immunization records, including PPD (within the past 12 months) and evidence of Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, Diphtheria, Polio, and Tetanus vaccination.
    2. Copy of physical examination
    3. Copy of current CPR certification
    4. Copy of health insurance
    5. Copy of criminal background check
    6. Copy of drug screening test
