Bachelor of Science in Nursing

The Second Degree Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is a 15-month, full-time program designed for students who already have a bachelor's degree in a field other than nursing and wish to pursue professional nursing as a career. The objective of the program is to produce graduates for professional nursing practice who can utilize knowledge from the natural and behavioral sciences as well as humanities and nursing theory to critically analyze and synthesize responses to health problems and provide appropriate nursing interventions.

Graduates of this program will leave the program with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to demonstrate nursing practice that is based on ethical, legal, and professional values and standards of practice. Students will learn to utilize the nursing process to support and promote health in diverse individuals, families, groups and communities in a multicultural world. The goal is to demonstrate continued commitment to lifelong learning to promote personal and professional growth.

Courses will consist of lecture, "hands-on" in-house lab experiences with high fidelity "state of the art" manikins, as well as extensive clinical experiences in top-rated clinical facilities. Some courses are conducted via distance education and students must have access to the appropriate technology.
