Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate

Program Requirements

The FNP Certificate Program is a 30-credit program admits for the fall semester only. The deadline for applications is May 30. Applicants must have a Master of Science in Nursing to be eligible for admission. They must choose one of the following options:

Option 1: General Track

Students under Option 1 are master's-prepared nurses who are not currently certified as nurse practitioners or a nurse midwives. These students are required to take the following courses:

• NURS 220: Advanced Physiology and Pathophysiology
• NURS 222: Advanced Health Assessment
• NURS 223: Primary Care Seminar *
• NURS 230: Family Nurse Practitioner I
• NURS 231: Family Nurse Practitioner II
• NURS 232: Family Nurse Practitioner III
• NURS 234: Pharmacology

* This course has an on-campus component

Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate (115Kb)

Option 2: Advanced-Standing Track

Students under Option 2 are master's-prepared nurses who are currently certified as nurse practitioners or a nurse midwives. These students are granted 13 credits of advanced standing and are required to take the following courses:

• NURS 226: Primary Care of the Family
• NURS 227: NP Clinical Practicum
• NURS 228: Advanced Family Primary Care
