Welcome to the web site for our 3rd annual End-of-Life Care Summer Institute. The theme this year is “Creating Circles of Care”. Those of us who work with the dying and bereaved understand how important circles of care can be, because they bring comfort, a feeling of safety, love and healing. We seem to be living in a world where we look for quick fixes and simple solutions to challenges, but grief and fear and dying take time and involve a process. From our beginnings, human beings have created circles of care when others are in need; we cannot let this tradition disappear. Whether it involves our children who live in a world that feels increasingly unsafe, our faith communities, our brothers and sisters, sons and daughters returning from duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, or our growing number of elders and those facing illness and death, many circles of care are needed. Perhaps the most difficult circle of care to provide is the one that we need for ourselves - simply taking the time to renew, refresh and feel loved. So please come and join our circle of renowned teachers, authors and leaders in end-of-life care to learn about caring within communities, caring for our patients/clients and caring for each other and ourselves. |
