Brenda Sheingold

Education
Dr. Sheingold holds a bachelors degree in nursing from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia and a masters degree in business from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. Additionally, she earned a graduate certificate in Change Management from The Johns Hopkins University.
In April, 2009, Dr. Sheingold presented her dissertation research, Measuring the Extent, Distribution and Outcomes of Social Capital in the Nursing Community and received her Ph.D. from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.
Professional & Research Interests
Prior to her faculty appointment at George Washington University, Dr. Sheingold held the position of Senior Project Manager, for the Quality Department at Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic Region, and served on the faculty of the George Mason University Department of Health and Human Services.
Current areas of responsibility include research support for two Robert Woods Johnson sponsored grant projects, the first to develop and advocate public policies that support nursing-related quality measurement, and the second is a planning grant to establish a national nurse quality and safety alliance. She is also the Program Coordinator for the new National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) - MSN degree being offered at George Washington University in the Summer of 2010.
Dr. Sheingold was the recipient of the George Washington University Nursing Honor Society Research Award, 2009 for her social capital research applied to nurses in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area.
