Education
After graduating with her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Ursuline College in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Pintz continued her education at the University of Pennsylvania, where she completed the master’s-level Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner Program in 1988. At Catholic University in Washington, DC, Dr. Pintz earned a post-master’s family nurse practitioner certificate in 1995, followed by her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland-Baltimore in May 2006.
Professional & Research Interests
Dr. Pintz is an assistant professor with the Department of Nursing Education and director of the Nurse Practitioner Program. She has been a nurse practitioner since 1988, working in a variety of practice settings, including a rural women’s health clinic, a health maintenance organization, a public health clinic, and a private practice.
Dr. Pintz’s clinical interests concern women’s health and pediatrics. She has published and presented on a variety of topics such as prescribing in pregnancy, adolescent health maintenance, and postmenopausal women's health concerns. Her research interests include educational assessment; incorporating the use of new technology and innovations for promoting advanced reasoning skills; and improving quality in distance education. She is currently working on an interdisciplinary project to develop and test nursing quality measures with consumers and patients.
