GW HONOR SOCIETY OF NURSING

Honor Society
Honor Society Board

As the largest institution of higher education in the nation’s capital, GW offers an array of graduate programs across the University. With that in mind, the Department of Nursing Education, recognizing the shared ideals of academic freedom and excellence, and a shared purpose of service to the nation and the world, seeks to establish an Honor Society in Nursing.

The ultimate goal is to become a chartered Chapter in Sigma Theta Tau International. To become chartered, it is necessary to establish an operational honor society for one year. We are asking alumni, nurse leaders in the community, nurse leaders in the hospital and our current eligible students to consider joining us in this effort. Induction into the Nursing Honor Society will take place in July 2009. Applications will be accepted after April 1, 2009. Inductees will all be eligible to be founding members of the new Sigma Theta Tau Chapter in 2010.

An Honor Society in Nursing is a must for the rapidly expanding Department of Nursing Education. Modeled upon the structure and goals of Sigma Theta Tau, as a department we stand for “love, courage and honor” in all our endeavors as health care professionals. We recognize that our practice is based upon skill, scholarship and research. As an Honor Society, we understand that we can recognize and reward our excellence by forging collaborative relationships with our community and hospital colleagues.

Join us as we support and celebrate our profession and build our foundation for the future.
