CUTTING EDGE

Pharmacogenomics is the future of personalized medicine. Explore our innovative program designed for the future of health care.

Pharmacogenomics is the combination of two scientific disciplines: pharmacology (the study of drug action) and genomics (the comprehensive study of the entire genome). Therefore, Pharmacogenomics involves understanding how an individual's genetic inheritance (his/her genome) affects his/her body's response to drugs. The ultimate goal of pharmacogenomics is to improve health care by utilizing an individual's unique genetic composition to individualize or "tailor" drug therapy ("personalized medicine") and maximize drug safety and efficacy. The field of Pharmacogenomics is rapidly evolving as we learn more about the human genome and the natural variability that exists in our diverse culture.

Our Pharmacogenomics program combines intensive online and innovative in-class learning. We offer a combination of traditional classes and hands-on laboratory coursework that goes far beyond the standard curriculum.
