The BSHS in Clinical Health Sciences requires successful completion of 120 credit hours, divided into the three degree components: electives, general education requirements, and GW coursework.
Electives (60 credit hours)
During the first semester the student is enrolled in the program, advanced standing for successful completion of Navy IDC, Army 18D, or Air Force IDMT training will be noted on the student’s record and applied towards the bachelor’s degree.

The general education requirements may be completed by taking coursework at a regionally accredited institution of higher education. GW also offers online coursework that can satisfy some of the above requirements.

Students interested in applying for admission to graduate or professional programs will likely need additional courses to meet admissions requirements. These students should consult the program-specific admissions requirements of the programs to which they plan to apply. If you plan on applying to a graduate program after completion (e.g. Physician Assistant programs), it is not recommended that you use credit-by-exam to complete degree requirements.
GW Coursework (15 credit hours)
Select five from the following seven courses. All GW courses are offered online.

Major Courses (15 credit hours)
Nine credits of the courses in the major are related to clinical experiences and parallel the IDC or 18D recertification process. These nine credits must be completed while on active duty.

The remaining six credit hours in the major include a course in public health principles and an independent study that is to be completed towards the end of the degree program.
