The Department of Physical Therapy and Health Care Sciences is a dynamic component of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Serving students pursuing careers in Clinical Laboratory Science, Emergency Health Services, Pharmacogemonics, Physical Therapy, and Sonography, the programs offer unique on-campus and distance learning opportunities that will lead to a baccalaureate, masters, or clinical doctoral degree or a certificate.

As a part of a major academic medical center, the Department of Physical Therapy and Health Care Sciences attracts not only top students, but also faculty members who are experts in their field. While maintaining a strong commitment to scholarship and service, our faculty's first priority is always the students, engaging with them in numerous research, practice, and service activities. Our students report enjoying close professional relationships with faculty both inside and outside of the classroom.

Graduates of the Department of Physical Therapy and Health Care Sciences are dedicated professionals trained to function effectively as leaders and members of inter-professional teams. These skills are fostered through the department's many inter-professional classroom and community service activities, as well as its close partnerships with GW's School of Public Health and Health Services and its School of Nursing. The Department of Physical Therapy and Health Care Sciences takes full advantage of its location in the nation's capital, where students witness the workings of different professional organizations and experience policy making and advocacy at the national level.
