"From the first session I noticed how much better I was starting to feel inside. Everyone laughs, everyone cheers each other on, and our goal for the day is always met. We leave feeling better than when we arrived."

About Healing with Basketball
Healing with Basketball offers ongoing, monthly Saturday afternoon clinics for recovering breast cancer survivors in the Washington, DC metropolitan area who want to do strength and endurance training to get stronger and recover from their surgery or treatment.

As part of this training, we are all learning to play basketball!

It doesn't matter if you have never held a basketball in your life. Basketball is a wonderful upper body, team-oriented and FUN workout for breast-cancer survivors. In our clinics, we learn basketball drills (passing, shooting, etc.) and other strength-building exercises (defense, offense, aerobics.). We learn together, laugh together, and over time, we create a loving team of stronger, determined survivors.

To register and get more information, please use our form on the left side of this page. You must have permission from your doctor to participate prior to registration.

Our Volunteer Program Manager
Lynn Grodzki, co-founder of Healing with Basketball is a Licensed Social Worker and a Master Certified Coach. Lynn works as a psychotherapist and business coach in Silver Spring, Maryland, and is author of 5 professional books. She speaks at national conferences and writes articles for magazines. Lynn is a breast cancer survivor. Following her cancer surgery, Lynn asked Andrew to help her regain upper body strength. They developed a training program that became the blueprint for Healing with Basketball. They offered their clinics to women in the Greater Metropolitan Area of Washington, DC for several years and then sought sponsorship with George Washington University Cancer Institute. Lynn loves volunteering for the Healing with Basketball clinics and appreciates the community support to offer this unique program to women, to help them rebound from cancer.

Together, using Andrew's methodical and motivated approach geared for breast cancer survivors, Lynn has built her upper body after surgery, developed confidence in her physical ability, and reconnected with her innate physicality. Lynn loves the results, and has never felt better or more alive in her 58 years.
