Center for International Health
Embarks on $1.8 Million Dominican Republic Project
The SPHHS's Center for International Health
has undertaken an $1.8 million contract through the fall of 2002
with the Government of the Dominican Republic for innovative work
that involves testing the best models for providing services to
poor populations and how best to finance these methods of service
delivery. The contract is unique in two ways: First, it enables
GW to test various methodologies to find the most effective, rather
than test the efficacy of only one. Second, it represents the
first time that GWUMC will have staff in a field office outside
of the local area. An office with approximately nine staff members
will be established in Santa Domingo. According to Rosalia Rodriguez-Garcia,
PhD, director, Center for International Health, this contract
represents a significant leap for the Center into a whole new
phase of work in International Health.
