WellFit
Our Program

Friendly atmosphere and professional coaching!
The WellFit program runs five mornings a week and includes group fitness sessions that incorporate aerobic, strength training, and flexibility components; walking club; health seminars on a variety of topics; individual coaching; and behavior change counseling. Upon joining, members receive a baseline fitness assessment and personalized fitness program, based on your individual needs and goals. We strive for personalized service with personality - you'll never get "lost in the crowd" or feel out of place!

  • Group fitness classes: offered Tuesday & Wednesday for 1 hour
Classes include: Step aerobics, dance, strength & stretch, functional training, yoga, and more, as well as occasional special activities such as tai chi and water aerobics. Participants may also choose to use the aerobic and strength equipment on their own, with guidance from our personal coaches.*
*All sessions are supervised by trained clinical exercise physiologists and exercise science student interns in the Exercise Science Department.
  • Educational health series
Topics may include: Stress management, women's nutrition, osteoporosis prevention, emotional eating, the myths of fad diets, overcoming exercise obstacles, target heart rate training, and more.
  • Personal fitness assessment and planning
At the start of the program, participants undergo a baseline medical history and fitness assessment to determine resting heart rate and blood pressure, aerobic capacity, body mass index or body composition (optional), muscular strength, and flexibility. The results of this initial assessment are sent to your physician and used to prescribe an individualized activity plan, depending on your goals (your input is our #1 priority), abilities, and health risks. We'll also monitor your progress and adjust for lifestyle demands, as needed. Follow-up fitness assessments are conducted on a regular basis or at the completion of the program.
  • Diet consultations
Individualized consultations regarding diet, body composition, and lifestyle modification are also available on a fee-for-service basis. Please see our other services for more details.

WellFit hours are: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 7:00 to 9:00 am, and Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:00 to 10:00 am. Participants choose from several program options.

WellFit cooperates with physicians to provide appropriate programs for medical conditions, including depression, cancer, hypertension, diabetes, chronic fatigue, premenstrual tension, menopause, osteoporosis, arthritis, and orthopedic limitations.
