The Society of Exercise Science Students (SESS)

What we do:

  • Monthly meetings for officers and members
  • Bowling Night
  • Fund raisers such as bake sales, smoothie sales and yoga mat sales
  • Volunteer opportunities and group participation in local “walks/runs” to benefit various diseases and conditions.
  • Program Fair — a Fall event held in Kogan Plaza to inform GW students, faculty and staff on EXSC programs. There are activity class demonstrations, blood pressure screenings, body composition screening, Athletic Training demonstrations, grip strength and flexibility measurements, BMI calculations, and massage.
  • Career day — a Spring event that joins current EXSC students and former EXSC alumni. Alumni and other professionals discuss how their EXSC degree opened doors to various careers in the Allied Health Field. Last year’s professionals included a Physical Therapist, the Washington Wizard’s Athletic Trainer, the Director from the Pentagon DiLorenzo Health Clinic and more

Ideas for next semester include:

  • Relaxation/Meditation/Massage—an inner-club stress free zone during midterms and finals.
  • Fun Fridays! – after school activities with local preschool students to enhance health and wellness experience in a fun and engaging manner.
