From the Program Director

Thank you for your interest in the Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Residency offered at The George Washington University Medical Center. The residency was begun in 1995 and the first resident graduated in 1999. The goal of the program is to provide an exceptional education in the field of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (Oto-HNS). We will teach you the information, clinical and surgical skills, and appropriate habits and discipline to be an excellent otolaryngologist. The program is accredited by the American Council on Graduate Medical Education for one resident per year with an internship in general surgery followed by four years of training in Oto-HNS. One year of General Surgery at GWUMC is required.

This program combines the facilities and faculties of three major hospitals: The George Washington University Hospital/Center for Cosmetic Surgery, Children's National Medical Center, and a combined community hospital experience at Holy Cross Hospital and Inova Fairfax Hospital, insuring a broad exposure to all aspects of academic adult and pediatric otolaryngology as well as a community practice experience. We believe that residents completing this program will find themselves exceptionally well prepared for their future.
