How to apply to George Washington - Internal Medicine

ERAS

Candidates may apply to any or all of the Internal Medicine training programs and will be considered separately for each (i.e., preliminary, categorical, and primary care). Please specify on your application form all programs to which you are applying. Click on the image below to connect to the ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service) website.

Required Materials

The National Residency Matching Program provides for a separate matching process for each program. All applications are processed through ERAS. (See ERAS Applicant Information Sheet.) The following is required of all candidates:

  • Dean’s letter and medical school transcript. These items should be obtained from the dean of your medical school with a request to forward the material to the appropriate program director(s).
  • A minimum of two other letters of recommendation from members of the faculty of your medical school. For applicants from schools with pass/fail grading systems, one of these letters should be from the chairman of the department of medicine.
  • A brief personal statement. For those applying to primary care, please include reasons for pursuit of a career in primary care.

International Medical Graduates: You must include copies of your USMLE Step I and Step II score reports and a copy of your valid ECFMG or CSA certificate. The George Washington University Office of Graduate Medical Education is an approved sponsor of the Exchange Visitor Visa Program (the J1 Visa). As such, we fully support the application of any medical resident through the J1 visa process.

We do not sponsor H1 visas.
