DC Health & Academic Prep Program

As part of its mission, The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences (GWU SMHS) develop signature programs intersecting education, research, clinical care, policy, and community service. Working in partnership with local stakeholders, the GWU SMHS collaborates within and outside of the university to enhance services to the local community.
DC HAPP goals include:
~ To identify, recruit and nurture talented students from the District of Columbia Public School system, primarily underrepresented minority and/or disadvantaged students, interested in pursuing careers in the health professions.
~ To establish linkages between students and health care providers and scientists including but not limited to physicians, physician assistants, nurses, pharmacologists and physical therapists.
~ To develop strategies which provide continuing support and resources for program participants in order for them to achieve post-secondary academic success leading to professional careers in the healthcare field.
