Membership Types

The DC D-CFAR offers four types of membership:

Investigator

This membership is available to faculty who have an active interest in HIV/AIDS research and are at one of the five DC D-CFAR collaborating institutions, including:

  • Children's National Medical Center
  • Georgetown University
  • The George Washington University
  • Howard University
  • Veterans Affairs Medical Center

Benefits:

  • Participate in a local and national network of HIV/AIDS investigators
  • Priority access to Core services, facilities and mentoring
  • Eligible to apply for internal DC D-CFAR Research Awards
  • Receive funding announcements about grant opportunities
  • Receive updates on HIV-related research and news
  • Receive invitations to attend DC D-CFAR educational events, Core seminars, community forums, and CFAR national meetings on specific focus areas

Affiliate Investigator

This membership is available to:

  • Faculty members from non-DC D-CFAR collaborating institutions who have an active interest in HIV/AIDS research
  • Doctoral-level HIV/AIDS researchers affiliated with non-academic organizations in the DC area who have an active interest in HIV/AIDS research
  • HIV/AIDS physicians participating in the DC D-CFAR Clinical Core who are not currently affiliated with a DC D-CFAR academic institution

Benefits:

  • Participate in a local and national network of HIV/AIDS investigators;
  • Receive funding announcements about grant opportunities;
  • Receive updates on HIV-related research and news;
  • Receive invitations to attend DC D-CFAR educational events, Core seminars, community forums and CFAR national meetings on specific focus areas; and
  • Consideration for access to Core services and facilities depending on availability.

Associate Member

This membership is available to:

  • Post-doctoral fellows
  • Graduate and undergraduate students in the DC area who are interested in HIV/AIDS research

Benefits:

  • Receive funding announcements about grant opportunities
  • Receive updates on HIV-related research and news
  • Receive invitations to attend DC D-CFAR educational events, Core seminars and community forums
  • Receive invitations to attend special events for students and trainees regarding career opportunities, education, and training

Community Member

This membership is available to members of the HIV/AIDS community in DC including members of HIV/AIDS community-based organizations.

Benefits:

  • Receive updates on HIV-related research and news; and
  • Receive invitations to attend DC D-CFAR educational events, Core seminars and community forums.
