Newly Hired Investigator Awards

Request for Applications

The District of Columbia Developmental Center for AIDS Research (DC D-CFAR) is pleased to announce a new round of funding targeted specifically at newly hired investigators at DC D-CFAR participating institutions, including American University, Children's National Medical Center, Georgetown University, the George Washington University, Howard University, and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Faculty investigators at the six participating DC D-CFAR institutions who began their appointments during academic year 2011-2012 are eligible to apply as Principal Investigators to the Newly Hired Investigator Award. Applicants must apply for DC D-CFAR membership prior to or at time of submission.

Applications from the following groups are especially solicited:

  • Early stage investigators who have not yet been a PI on a RO1 NIH award, or equivalent, and are within 10 years of completing their doctoral degree or postgraduate training

  • Underrepresented racial and ethnic minority groups, and women

  • Established investigators in other fields who wish to transition into HIV/AIDS research.

  • Investigators proposing multidisciplinary or cross-institutional, collaborative research projects that are translational in nature

Submission, Review, and AnticiPated Start Dates

Pre-Submission Form (required): January 11, 2012
Request for Core Services, including mentoring: January 11, 2011
Application Due Date: February 10, 2012
Application Review: March 2012
Earliest Anticipated Start Date: April 2012
