The primary goal of the Developmental Core is to increase the level of NIH funding in the areas identified in the DC D-CFAR's strategic research initiative, which includes a focus on research in Washington, DC, with an emphasis on research by junior investigators beginning their career, researchers new to the HIV research field, and underrepresented minorities and women.
Support and promote innovative, collaborative and multidisciplinary HIV/AIDS research in Washington, DC.
Develop and coordinate a Professional Development Program for mentoring and supporting junior HIV/AIDS investigators and investigators new to HIV research, including underrepresented minority and women investigators.
