The District of Columbia Developmental Center for AIDS Research (DC D-CFAR) is pleased to announce a new round of funding targeted specifically at newly hired investigators at DC D-CFAR participating institutions, including American University, Children's National Medical Center, Georgetown University, the George Washington University, Howard University, and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Faculty investigators at the six participating DC D-CFAR institutions who began their appointments during academic year 2011-2012 are eligible to apply as Principal Investigators to the Newly Hired Investigator Award. Applicants must apply for DC D-CFAR membership prior to or at time of submission.» Learn more
The Newly Hired Investigator Award specifically aims to spur and facilitate HIV/AIDS research as investigators establish themselves at the new institution and develop their research agenda.

Dr. Kim Blankenship has recently relocated to Washington DC, and is highly experienced in the field of HIV/AIDS research. As the newest member of the DC D-CFAR Executive Committee and the Chair of the Department of Sociology at American University, Dr. Blankenship will represent American University and bring her unique perspective as an NIH-funded HIV/AIDS investigator to the D-CFAR.

The DC D-CFAR would like to proudly congratulate Dr. Monica Ruiz for receiving a new HIV/AIDS grant award from the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Ruiz is an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Prevention and Community Health at the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services.
