Our Simulators Our Integrated Curriculum Classes Tailored for your Group’s Needs Future Directions

The Simulation Center seeks to provide comprehensive simulation support for all healthcare providers. We are currently working on a number of projects that we believe will advance the skills of our students.

Ultrasound Academy
Ultrasound Academy offers a unique ability to visualize the human body in real time, in a non-invasive manner. The ability to “see” inside a patient has many applications throughout healthcare. Ultrasound can be used as an adjunct to anatomy classes, where it helps students to visualize the internal organs in situ; to identify pathology, such as gallstones or vascular injury; or to identify landmarks on a patient for a procedure. In conjunction with the Ultrasonography training program, the Simulation Center seeks to develop a comprehensive ultrasound simulation program that can be used by students in all of the health sciences fields.

A simulation trainer will provide the ability to see pathology on demand, and several state-of-the-art ultrasound machines will enable plenty of practice time. A curriculum for medical students, nursing and the ultrasonography program are in the works!

Bioterror and Mass Casualty Training
Crisis management extends beyond the individual patient, to situations that can overwhelm an emergency department or hospital. As ED overcrowding and overflowing hospitals become more common, the staff needs to learn to cope with unforeseen patient surges. This mini-course will be designed for group training to teach ED mass casualty triage, ED management in an emergency crowding situation and whom to call for help.
