Caring for the chronically ill or dying person and supporting individuals, families and communities facing grief and loss takes more than a willing and compassionate spirit. These issues touch all of our lives and sadly, many of us, including professional and lay caregivers are often ill equipped to respond to the needs of our patients, congregants or loved ones as they embark on these life-altering and unimaginable journeys.
Our effectiveness in addressing these complex responsibilities can be enhanced by the knowledge gained through the End-of-Life Care Summer Institute. In addition we often find that those for whom we care and our colleagues become our most valued teachers. Through stories and personal narratives, we become wiser and richer in the knowledge that each of us informs those who follow. This year, the theme of the End-of-Life Care Summer Institute is “Companions on the Journey – Stories on Being: Lost and Found.”
We invite you to come and listen, share and learn.
