Medical Director, Center for Emergency Preparedness

The Medical Director provides expertise and supports the coordination of successful collaborative pursuits of grant, contract, philanthropic funding for GWUMC emergency public health initiatives (terrorism issues, emergency preparedness, medical care, public health, training, research, etc.).

This part-time position supports the Center’s function as a portal for collecting, coordinating and disseminating information internally and externally; serves as GWUMC expert spokesperson on medical aspects of emergency public health; consults on local, regional and national preparedness activities; provides expertise to help GWUMC develop and implement new programs and activities; and serves as lead physician for organization of emergency preparedness at GW Hospital. In conjunction to this position, there may be an opportunity to provide patient care at GW Hospital and/or as part of GW Medical Faculty Associates.

Qualifications:

  • A Medical degree, with specialty training related to emergency medicine and public health;

  • A minimum of 5 years professional experience in emergency public health, emergency healthcare, and a current knowledge of related legislative activity;

  • Strong public speaking skills;

  • Eligibility for appointment as a faculty member in the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences;

  • Proven success in obtaining federal programmatic funding is highly desirable

  • Eligibility for appointment to the Medical Staff of GW Hospital is desirable;

  • Eligibility for credentialing by the GW Medical Faculty Associates is desirable
