Research and Educational Interests
For the last 30 years, my interest has been fatty acid metabolism. My major focus has been on eicosanoid metabolism but more recently my focus has shifted to an interest in nutritional fatty acids. My interest in Medical History centers on medical developments in ancient civilizations (e.g. Greek, Judaic, nonWestern).
My teaching is focused on three areas- (1) lecturing on various Biochemistry topics to undergraduate and graduate students, (2) hands-on teaching undergraduate and graduate laboratory courses in Protein methodologies and Lipid/Carbohydrate biotechnologies and (3) discussing the History of Medicine to medical students. In addition to my teaching and research responsibilities, I am the Director and Advisor of the M.S. program in Biochemistry and the M.S. Program in Genomics and Bioinformatics. Please call or email me if you have any questions about program admission requirements, nature of our programs or financial aid. A general description of these M.S. programs can be found under the Educational Programs.
