MASTERS PROGRAMS IN BIOCHEMISTRY AND
MOLECULAR BIOLOGY

The M.S. Program in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology offers a choice of either a thesis M.S. option or a nonthesis M.S. alternative. A wide range of courses provides students with a broad general knowledge of modern biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, biotechnology and related areas of interest. Programs are developed on an individual basis to satisfy the interests and to meet the career goals of our students.

An unusual aspect of our program is the availability of a wide range of practical laboratory courses in different areas of biotechnology-including proteins, molecular biology and gene engineering, experimental genomics and lipids and membranes.

Most courses are offered in the evening, thus making it possible to pursue the nonthesis M.S. program on a part-time basis. The nonthesis M.S. program is ideal for those individuals who work full time and who are interested in an alternative to conventional graduate education as part of their career or professional growth.

The M.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology programs are administered within the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology by the Director, Dr. Jack Y. Vanderhoek, bcmjyv@gwumc.edu, 202-994-2929
