Gary L. Simon

Dr.Simon, M.D., Ph.D. is Vice Chairman of the Department of Medicine and Director of the Division of Infectious Diseases. He has joint appointments in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and in Microbiology and Tropical Medicine. He has been a member of the GW faculty since 1980. He received his MD degree from the University of Maryland, and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin in physical chemistry. He trained in internal medicine at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore and did clinical and research fellowships in infectious diseases at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston. Dr. Simon is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians (Laureate awardee) and the Infectious Disease Society of America.
