GW Faculty Member Dr. Lisa Alexander Receives Fulbright Specialists Award
WASHINGTON, DC - Dr. Lisa Alexander, PA, MPH, EdD, the Assistant Dean for community-based partnerships at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and affiliate of the George Washington University Africa Center for Health and Human Security, was recently named a Fulbright Senior Specialist for her proposed work in Rwanda. As a member of the Fulbright Specialists Program, Dr. Alexander will develop Rwanda's first non-physician clinician training program in partnership with the Kigali Health Institute (KHI) and the Rwanda Ministry of Health.
Release of "Preventing Maternal and Child Deaths: Towards the MDGs 2015" Conference Report
KIGALI, RWANDA (October 7, 2009) - In partnership with the Rwanda Ministry of Health, the Rwanda Medical Association, the United Nations, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Transformational Development Agency, the George Washington University (GWU) Africa Center for Health and Human Security launched "Preventing Maternal and Child Deaths: Towards the MDGs 2015." The report was the product of Rwanda's first annual international conference on maternal and child health.

Changing the Face of Psychiatry: Building Capacity in South Africa

objective of addressing the “brain drain” in psychiatry in South Africa.
GWU Africa Center Follows the Peace Corps into Rwanda
WASHINGTON (January 27, 2009) — On January 27 at the Peace Corps
headquarters, representatives from The George Washington University (GWU)
Africa Center for Health and Human Security joined Peace Corps staff in
hosting 35 health Peace Corps Volunteers (PCV) who were leaving for a new
program in Rwanda. This event marked the expansion into Rwanda of the Health
Information Exchange Program partnership between GWU and the Peace Corps.
