Kristen Campbell
Kristen Campbell is the program director for The George Washington University’s (GW) Africa Center for Health and Security. Her interests include African issues, global health, sustainability science, global change, and nature-society interactions. Before joining GW in 2004, Kristen was a program officer at the National Academy of Sciences, a prestigious institution that provides independent advice to the government on science and technology policy. She prepared technical reports on a broad range of issues including sustainable development in Africa, coal waste impoundments, global climate change, the mapping sciences, and geologic and geotechnical engineering. Kristen also directed the Geographical Sciences Committee, a standing committee that provides advice on policy matters related to geography and geographic analysis. Previously, Kristen was director of programs at the Renewable Natural Resources Foundation, a consortium of professional, scientific and educational organizations dedicated to advancing sciences and public education in renewable natural resources. Kristen received her BA and MS in Environmental Sciences from the University of Virginia. She is a member of the African Studies Association, Association of American Geographers, and the Society for International Development. |
