Permanent Reserve Collection
Permanent Reserve Collection and Study Guides
The library's Acquisitions Department identifies highly used texts and places them on permanent reserve. These volumes are often the newest editions of standard textbooks and will remain permanently on reserve until the next new edition is purchased. All reserve items are given the location designated "Reserve" in Himmelfarb Library's Online Catalog. These materials circulate for three hours, though there may be additional copies in the stacks which circulate for the normal three week period.
Copies of study guides designed to help students prepare for the USMLE examinations. Permanent reserve collection items are available for checkout at the Library's Circulation Desk on the main floor.
Exams
Many faculty choose to submit copies of their exams from the last three years to the Reserve Collection. The medical curricula as well as the physician's assistant curricula are represented. These exams are available at the Circulation Desk for use in the Library.
Multimedia Reserve Materials
Instructors may place multimedia materials on reserve to support classroom instruction. Multimedia materials such as anatomical models, software and accompanying manuals are available for use in the Bloedorn Technology Center, located on the 3rd floor of the library.
Videos, DVDs and CD-ROMs on reserve may be requested at the Circulation Desk located on the main floor of the Library. Materials in this reserve collection may be found using the "Reserve Desk" option in the Himmelfarb Library's Online Catalog. Select AV-RESERVE from the reserve desk drop-down box.
WARNING CONCERNING COPYRIGHT COMPLIANCE The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials. Under certain circumstances specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order, if in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of the Copyright law. |
