Finding Information
I need images for my Powerpoint presentation. Does the library offer any image resources?
There are links to "Software & Images" under the Medicine & Health Sciences Portal. You'll find links here to many websites and databases that offer images. Be sure to give proper attribution for any images used. You should be signed into the VPN or you will be prompted to enter your login information.
Is there particular software that I will be using throughout my classes?
Yes, some students will use software such as Bates Online or DXR Cases. To find the links to this software, click on "Software & Images". Some of these programs require a log-in and password, while others require that you are logged into the VPN. You should receive an email with the passwords that you'll need. If you have questions about logging in, contact the reference desk at 202-994-2850 or library@gwumc.edu or instant messenger.
What resources can I use to find information about particular drugs?
Himmelfarb Library subscribes to several databases that offer drug information. From the library homepage, click on the link to "E-Databases". Click on the link to "show resources" next to the heading Drug/Pharmacology. The "I" button will provide more information about the database.
Where can I find my grades? Will I need to sign-in to access grade info and, if so, what information will I need? Who would I call if I forget a password?
For those NP and PA students accessing their grades online, go to the library homepage, and click on the link to "Grades Admin" on the right side of the page under My Accounts, and sign in with your username and password. If you forget your username or password, call the library reference desk at 202-994-2850.
For students other than NPs and PAs, you'll access your grades online through the GWeb system. For help with GWeb passwords contact Student Technology Services at 202-994-7041.
My professor requires papers to be written in APA Format. Do you have examples of how references should be formatted in APA Style?
Take a look at the APA Citation Style Guide.
