ALADIN FAQ

What is ALADIN?

ALADIN is a website which can help you access Himmelfarb Library’s databases, e-texts, and e-journals from off-campus locations.  ALADIN is run by the Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC), a consortium of local universities. Medical center users are able to use ALADIN courtesy of GW's Gelman Library (a member of the consortium).

How do I login to ALADIN?

To login to ALADIN, you will be asked to provide your last name, University ID or Library Barcode, and to identify your institution using a drop-down menu.

In the field for University ID or Library Barcode, you may use either of the following numbers:

  • Your GWid (G+8-digit number).

  • Users may retrieve their GWid at http://gwid.gwu.edu/.

Users unable to retrieve their GWid with a GW NetID (username@gwu.edu email address), may consult the following instructions.

  • GWorld Card Barcode Number.  Use the small number located underneath the barcode on the back of your GWorld card.  Note: you must activate your GWorld card at Gelman Library’s Circulation Desk in order to use your GWorld Card Barcode Number in ALADIN.
