Group Study Rooms Policy

Rooms for individual or group study in the Himmelfarb Library are normally available on a first-come, first-served basis. To accommodate the needs of our students, however, the Library has set aside a wing of second floor rooms that students may reserve for group study during evenings and weekends.
Rooms 204A through 204J may be reserved for use by study groups on:

Monday - Friday, 4pm - 12mid
Saturday - Sunday, 9am - 12mid
Requests for these study rooms can be made either at the Circulation Desk or by calling (202) 994-2962. The following guidelines apply to group study rooms:

  • Only GWU Medical Center students may use or reserve these rooms.
  • Students may sign up for a room on an occasional basis, between one and seven days in advance. (Rooms not scheduled at least a day in advance are available only on a first-come, first served basis.)
  • Groups may reserve rooms for a maximum of 4 hours at a time. (Members of the same group may not sign up for consecutive time slots!)
  • If a group leaves the room unattended for more than 15 minutes, they may forfeit the use of that room. Students are expected to use the room during the time reserved.
  • Belongings must not be left unattended.  They should not be used to "hold" a room, and may be stolen.
  • Groups must be considerate of others by:
    • using courtesy when asking others to vacate the room you've reserved
    • limiting noise, food and drink
    • cleaning up prior to leaving
  • Questions should be addressed to the Circulation Desk.
Himmelfarb Library reserves the right to modify the schedule at any time.
